Grigio Girls - 24 x 24 inches, acrylic and gold leaf on gallery wrapped canvas. “Grigio Girls” is a reference to a beloved song by Lady GaGa, dedicated to one of her best friends who lost her life to cancer at a very young age. The song means it’s important to have a group of friends that you can call at any time to be there for you when times are hard, when you’re sick, when you need strong women to rally around you in your time of need. When GaGa’s friend Sonja was very ill, GaGa and Sonja’s friends would get together and drink wine and talk about how hard it was to see her go through this battle, and they would cry because they didn’t want to cry in front of Sonja. They wanted to keep a brave face on for her. This painting is an ode to the strong women that hold other women’s hands when they need someone to be there for them. It’s for the women who rally behind other women. It’s for the Grigio Girls.
